do the next thing

There is not enough time in the day. It seems when there are little children in the home, there is half of 'not enough time in the day'. {And yet the years fly by!!} Some days are a struggle to keep on top of things. I remember when Sweet P came home I constantly had the feeling of barely keeping my nose above water- drowning in tasks of every day life. It's easy to look around and think, where do I even begin? There's too much to do in too many places. My flesh says, forget it! Bury your head in the sand- you're helpless. But we can't. we. must. keep. going. As mothers, the well being of our family largely depends on us and as followers of Christ, it's required of us to keep pressing on. I found this script from a radio program featuring Elisabeth Elliot extremely encouraging when the task ahead is more than I feel I can bear. {When you can sneak 5 minutes away from your too short day, read and soak in all the wisdom she shares in her interview- it's well worth it.} She quotes a short poem-
"Do it immediately, do it with prayer, do it reliantly, casting all care. Do it with reverence, tracing His hand who placed it before thee with earnest command. Stayed on omnipotence, safe 'neath His wing, leave all resultings, do the next thing."
